No Safeway Delivery of Groceries?

(Vancouver, BC)

Despite what this article says Safeway only delivers flowers, at least in Vancouver. I tried the safeway.com address. I live in Vancouver but the stores it suggested were in Bellingham, WA. Safeway may have previously supported online delivery before but they don't now.

I've checked and found . . . Something Coming!
by: Ruth

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I've been busy with a large but different project, however I took time just now to do a bit of search.

I had heard that the Canadian Safeway chain had been bought up by Sobey's. True enough, safeway.ca was bought up by Sobey's about 3 years ago. (safeway.com is the USA company).

So I checked the Sobey's website, and under "history" found that they are working with a platform known as Orckestra to set up a Click & Pickup type of delivery. It sound a lot like the one that Superstore (part of Loblaws) is using now. However, Sobey's decided to try it out first on a smaller sub-chain of theirs, called IGA. When they have tested it and worked out a plan they can really boast about, they will introduce it in all their chains, including stores with the Safeway and the Sobey's names in Canada.

I don't see any hard and fast dates for this roll-out, but I suggest we keep our eyes and ears open. It appears that more grocery conveniences are coming! Superstore asks customers to come pick up their orders placed online. Sobey's may want to top that and deliver to your door. Wouldn't that be nice?

I found a safeway site in Oketoks, AB., which was offering delivery services, but now their site just says, "Changes coming soon!"

Blessings & Thanks,
Ruth
